Curriculum

TSS offers the full high school accredited program at Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 levels for students to earn their OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma).

As an accredited Ontario high school, we use the curriculum created by the Ontario Ministry of Education. As a STEM school, our primary focus is mathematics and sciences, as we cater to students seeking admission into mathematics, science or engineering post-secondary disciplines. At TSS, we go beyond the regular curriculum expectations by offering various Technology Workshops and demonstrating to students the overlap between their technical courses and their future endeavours.

To graduate with an Ontario Diploma, the following is mandatory:

  • 18 Compulsory Credits

  • 12 Optional Credits

  • 40 Hours of community service

  • Ontario Literacy Test (Course)

While we do enhance our regular STEM courses with enriched content, students also have the option of taking math and computer science at Advanced Placement level.

Introducing AP Capstone Diploma Program

Beginning September 2023, our grade 10 students will be given the opportunity to obtain their AP Capstone Status alongside their OSSD. What has made this easier to implement, the the launch of AP Pre-calculus by the College Board - a curriculum suitable to reinforce Ontario mathematics for junior high school students. In Computer Science, we skip grade 9 and start CS at grade 10 level. Once Ontario ICS4U is complete, students will begin working on AP Computer Science A or AP Computer Science Principles (or both).

Other AP Courses

At TSS we offer one of the most comprehensive Advanced Placement Programs in the city. We offer 7 AP subjects and up to 28 AP Exams. This provides our own students with the opportunity to enroll for any subject of interest at Advanced Placement level. Learn more about our AP Program!

Our faculty is comprised of teachers who are knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about the Art of Teaching. Our instructors are certified by the Ontario College of Teachers. TSS teachers aim not only to provide the highest level of instruction, but also recognize that teaching is a human-centred profession. Our instructors care about building relationships with students so that learners are comfortable to ask questions and seek extra help when needed. To reinforce this close dynamic, at TSS, our school conducts events, field trips and ongoing learning projects in order to bring our community members closer to each other.

At TSS, we pride ourselves on our talented instructors who encourage students to follow their passion for science and technology. We try to go above and beyond in presenting students with opportunities to learn outside the curriculum. Our goal is not only to teach students the course material for their high school diploma, but also to teach them to enjoy learning the course material themselves. Please contact us today, and we will be happy to answer any inquiries.

Field Trips

We strive to host at least one field-trip per month. These include visits to universities, car plants, and factories to inspire student development and draw connections to the real world. In the past we have also visited paintball and archery fields. Toronto has a lot to offer!

Robotics, 3-D Printing, Math Contests, Debates, Science, and Soccer are amongst the clubs students may choose from after school. To maximize student participation, there are no additional fees! We encourage our students to propose their own clubs as well to foster their creativity, passion and initiative.
