AP Physics 1 (algebra-based) Virtual-Live Course (2026-27)
Class Date: Saturdays October 10, 2026 - April 24, 2027
Class Time: 9:45 AM - 12:00 PM on Saturdays
No class on Winter Break (Dec 26 & Jan 2), March Break (Mar 13), Easter Weekend (Mar 27)
Minimum Recommended Pre(or Co)-Requisite: SPH4U
AP Physics 1 is an algebra-based, introductory college-level physics course. Students cultivate their understanding of physics through classroom study, in-class activity, and hands-on, inquiry-based laboratory work as they explore concepts like systems, fields, force interactions, change, and conservation.
This course will briefly touch upon topics covered in grade 11 physics SPH3U and grade 12 physics SPH4U courses and fill in a large gap between the Ontario curriculum and AP expectations. This course will ASSUME that you, as the student, either have taken or are concurrently taking the SPH4U class. This course alone is not a substitute for taking the aforementioned classes. There are interested students who have independently studied Physics and they feel they are ready to take on the challenge.
This course will be using the flipped classroom approach, as such videos and assignments will be assigned to be completed outside of the class sessions. During meeting times, we will focus on a question and answer format to best utilize the brief period of time collectively together. We will be meeting via Meet.
The content, assignments, and assessments will be based upon the AP Course and Exam Description (CED) available in the AP Classroom website or here.
